Home shirt as worn when Cardiff were looking to earn promotion to the Premier League following their semi final play off defeat to Fulham in the previous season. However, after a poor first half of the season which saw the club in the bottom half of the table, Neil Harris was sacked and replaced by Mick McCarthy. Mick McCarthy led the team up the table after going unbeaten in his first 11 games with the club, but, after a  dip in form, Cardiff finished in 8th position.
