The season started well for West Ham with the club sitting in the European places at the end of September, but a dip in form from October to December led to the sacking of Manuel Pellegrini with the club finding themselves in a relegation battle. Pellegrini was replaced by former manager David Moyes who helped the team avoid relegation as they finished 5 points clear of the relegation zone in 16th place.
